Launch Day!

After four years of designing and building, our floating wetland was launched! With the help of a large group of Berkeley students and the lake park rangers, the ESW team spent the entire day at the lake. The bamboo structure had already been assembled, so on the day of the launch, the plants just had to be added to the coconut coir and the pulley system rope attached. We also dug a hole for the sprinkler box to hold the role and positioned the anchor in the middle of the lake with a pontoon boat.

A sign was added to the park in order to educate the public on what the wetland was and how it aimed to help the park. This was designed by the ESW project team, and then edited and erected by the Parks Department. Our team could not have been more excited that the wetland had been launched!
